CASTI enjoys pottery that conveys personality.

His creations are never symmetrical and attempt to convey a different aesthetics with the use of hand-building techniques especially coiling. He constantly tries to find his way by creating objects that are immediately not identifiable as mass-produced.

CASTI tries to minimize the use of glazes (mainly created by himself with a matt finish) and tries to leave the cooked clay exposed in order to give a tactile experience of the terracotta to his buyers.

His pottery making is inspired mainly by the ancient pottery tradition and the nature that surround this part of Sicily. The red of ancient Greek and Roman broken amphoras, the different shades of green of olive tree leaves, the sea with its ever changing blue and the yellow of the tuff rock.

He’s obsessively attracted by the color combination of red, black and white clay.

His background in mainly photography with almost twenty years of experience in photojournalism first and fashion and architecture later in his career

CASTI works from home in his studio in Santa Ninfa, a little town in the middle of the Trapani province where he moved with his family two years ago.
